El Gancho has 7 outdoor courts and 2 indoor climate-controlled courts. We have an active competitive and social tennis community. Our pros, all certified, offer a well-rounded program of lessons, clinics and social tennis activities for adults and juniors of all ability levels
Tennis Professionals:
Michael Polasek, Director of Tennis
Michael is a former UNM #1 singles player. He is a 2 time Mountain West Champion and 4 time All Mountain West Performer. He is a formerly world ranked singles player and also a former South African singles champion.
Jeff English, Senior Teaching Professional:
Jeff was trained under the guidance of Nick Bolletteri and played for Tyler Junior College in Texas where he won 2 division national championships. Jeff also played the pro circuit prior to teaching professionally. In 1992 he founded Tai Chi Tennis and has trained world class athletes in this dynamic approach, including his current work with a top 100 touring professional.
Bo Gray, Teaching Professional:
Bo was the Director of Tennis at El Gancho over 10 years ago and has returned as a teaching professional. Bo is a veteran teacher with more than 20 years experience. He is a USPTA member and has taught throughout the US and Europe.
Kyle Russell, Teaching Professional:
Kyle is a UNM Lobo with over 10 years of coaching experience at every level. His collegiate experience includes Colorado College, Air Force Academy, and College of Santa Fe, in addition to working with players on the WTA Professional Tour.
Each summer the tennis season is highlighted by our Annual Events, USTA tournaments, and Kids Programs.
Club Championship: It’s about socializing but it’s also about bragging rights until next season. This end of summer event puts the year’s lessons to the test to see who will come out as Club Champion.
Adult Clinics: Held year round, two days a week this clinic gives players of all levels the chance to interact with other players and get tips and drills from the tennis pro. Clinic is limited to 8 players so that everyone gets the attention to their game that they need.
Junior Clinic Advanced Player: Held year round, two days a week this clinic provides the junior player with the conditioning needed to stay competitive.
Junior Clinic Beginner/ Intermediate Player: Held year round, two days a week this clinic provides the young players with the opportunity to pick up the game or advance their skills.
